Long-story short. Since graduating with a master’s degree in social work from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign in 1996, I have worked as a counselor in schools, and for a private practice, a hospital, an addiction treatment center, and a mental health center. I recently began my own practice, where I can tie together all the best things I’ve learned from many places over these years.

Personally, my husband and I live in Springfield, have been married for 25 years, and have two children, a dog, and a cat.

Professional licenses. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). An LCSW requires working under supervision with a more experienced counselor, passing a licensing exam, and having a master’s in social work (which I have from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign). I also have a Professional Educator’s License as a school counselor and have credentialed training in addictions and dyslexia tutoring. I received dual psychology-social work bachelor degrees from Olivet University in Kankakee.

Please also see my profile in Psychology Today.

Insurance & rates. I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield of IL; BCBS PPO; BCBS Blue Choice Network (not the HMO); Live 360: Medical Associates Health Plan; Health Alliance (not the HMO); and Aetna. I also accept out-of-pocket clients and will typically charge $175 to $225 per session; though sliding rates are available depending on your circumstances.

Payment options. I use a payment processing company that is HIPAA compliant that accepts most credit and debit cards. I also will accept payments via check, Venmo, Paypal, and Apple Pay.

What meeting with me will be like. This will very much be decided by me and you together. We will chart a journey toward what “better” could look like for you and what tools and skills we can build together to get you there. Above all, I want you to feel welcomed and comfortable. I have worked hard to create a setting that feels inviting, warm, and safe (see the photo of my office!).
